Calm policies for Dorot (dorot.ai). Effective July 13, 2026.

Terms of use

By using Dorot, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Dorot is a local-first family tree tool. You may build a tree in your browser without an account. Optional features such as cloud save and invites require a verified email.

You own the family data you enter. You are responsible for having the right to store and share it, especially information about living people. Invites grant access you choose. Keep tokens and links private.

We may change the product, suspend its availability, or update these terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. The service is provided as available, without a guarantee of uninterrupted access.

Privacy

Trees start on your device. Until you save to the cloud, family data stays in your browser storage.

When you verify an email and save, tree data and related account metadata are stored with our infrastructure partners so the tree can sync and be shared with people you invite. Invite acceptors see or edit according to the access you grant.

We use your verified email for authentication and invite delivery related to the service. We do not sell personal data. We may process limited technical and analytics data needed to run and improve the site.

You can export a JSON backup of your tree. Signing out clears the cloud link in that browser. Local data may remain until you clear it. Remove collaborator access by managing invites and shared roles in the product when those controls are available.

Treat living relatives' details with care. Prefer sharing only what your family has agreed to place in a shared tree.

Disclaimer

Dorot is a workspace for organizing family connections. It is not a records archive, DNA service, legal advice, genealogical proof service, or guarantee that any relationship, date, or place is correct.

You enter and interpret the data. Place lookups and kinship displays depend on what you provide and on third-party partners. They can be incomplete or wrong. Always verify important claims with primary sources.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dorot and its operators are not liable for loss of data, incorrect family conclusions, misuse of shared trees, or damages arising from use of the service. Use backups. Use judgment when inviting others.

Acceptable use

Do not use Dorot to:

  • Harass, stalk, or expose living people without a lawful basis
  • Upload unlawful, harmful, or infringing content
  • Abuse invites, auth, or share links to gain unauthorized access
  • Scrape, attack, or disrupt the service or its partners
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent affiliation with Dorot

We may refuse or revoke access when these lines are crossed.
